Welcome to Happy Hill Dog park!

The Happy Hill Dog Park is a relaxing and playful virtual reality experience.

The Happy Hill Dog Park is a relaxing and playful environment which can be experienced in virtual reality using the free application VRChat. The dog park can be navigated by the use of your Quest 2 hand controllers.

You can pet, play, and interact with the dogs completely in VR. There are four dogs in the dog park that are all eager to make friends with you. This is a basic tutorial on how to get the most out of your visit.

Safety warning: remember at all times to be aware of the blue safety grid that might appear as you move about. If it does appear, move away from it so you do not wander outside of the safe playspace.

If you feel dizzy, queasy, or uncomfortable at any time, simply close your eyes, and tell your administrator you want to take a break, or end the session. For some people it takes a little bit of time to get used to being in virtual reality. This is perfectly normal.

  • Your Quest 2 headset should be set up and ready to go for you; however check the fit over your head, and adjust the strap lengths so that the headset fits comfortably, but securely. Put the headset aside for now.

  • Pick up the hand controllers and check the fit to make sure you have the right controller for the right hand. If it feels natural in your grip, go ahead and put the safety cord around your wrist, and tighten the cord just enough to keep it from falling off your hand if you lose your grip on the controller.

  • Now pick up the headset and fit it over your head.

  • Press and hold the power button on the right side of the headset for about eight seconds. You will see a battery display, then the Meta logo, and then the menu screen of the available applications.

  • Point your controller at the VRChat button, and click your index finger.

  • The VRChat application will load, and you will find yourself in the Happy Hill Dog Park.

  • Movement controls on your left hand controller

  • Pressing the thumb stick forward will move you forward in space.

  • Pressing the thumb stick backwards (towards you) will make you walk backwards.

  • Pressing the thumb stick to the left, will make you sidestep to your left.

  • Pressing the thumb stick to the right, will make you sidestep to your right.

  • Movement controls on your right hand controller

  • Pressing the thumb stick to the left, will make you rotate (yaw) counterclockwise.

  • Pressing the thumb stick to the right, will make you rotate (yaw) clockwise.

  • Just like real life, if you want to bend over to pet the dogs, or pick up objects, you can simply squat down to lower your body.

  • Fun fact: If you reached down and pat the dogs on the head, you will feel a pleasant vibration to simulate touching the dogs. Our doggies love to be petted!

  • Picking up objects

  • Reach down and point at the object with either hand controller.

  • When a blue glow appears around the object squeeze and hold the middle finger trigger on the hand controller.

  • The object will be held in your hand until you release the middle finger trigger.

  • Just like in real life, if you release the object while your hand is in motion you can throw the object.

  • Fun fact: the dogs love to play fetch with you! And each dog has his or her favorite toy.

  • When you are all done with your session, let the right hand controller hang by its cord, reach up and press the power button on the right side of the headset until you see the shutdown message display.

  • Carefully remove the headset, and removed the handset safety cords from your wrists.
